Grid-Interactive Solar Home System (SHS)

This is the starter solar electric power system for those with a small budget. The system has been designed to provide basic lighting at 230V/50Hz AC plus additional power for small 12V DC operated appliances. The basic system includes one solar panel, the mounting kit, charge controller, battery, inverter, DC Disconnect and Breaker enclosure, AC Disconnect and breaker enclosure, AC Transfer Switch, cables, connectors, conduits and other accessories.

The system has been optimised to operate the appliances below for the durations specified on a daily basis whilst using less than half of the total available battery capacity.

This starter solar power system has been designed to cope with a total daily consumption of 100Wh-140Wh per day.Your battery will last many years if you operate the system without exceeding the above optimum usage guidelines.

The system uses energy efficient 9Watt Compact Fluorescent Light (CFL) bulbs equivalent in brightness to the commonly used 40Watt incandescent light bulbs. The 11W CFLs are equivalent to the 60W bulbs

The size and number of solar panels and batteries in this system dictates the maximum power available and how long this power will be available.

Do you want to buy or to evaluate a Grid-Tied type of AC Solar Home System?


Installation ServiceThis package contains an Automatic AC Transfer Switch to enable it to connect to the grid (i.e. Grid-tied) or to interact with the grid (i.e. Grid-Interactive). In other words, you cannot connect it to the mains grid unless you added the above component.

The total daily power available from this system is not adequate for complete autonomy especially if you need to use all your typical house hold appliances such as TV, Computers, Fridge and Freezer.

In any case, bear in mind that solar systems are not a cost effective solution for heavy motors or heat producing appliances such as cookers.

Solar Array PV Combiner

This is used as a juncion box in situations where there are many panels in order to connect up all the wires coming out of all solar panels into a two-wire circuit. In addition,.the combiner is used to hold the over current protection breakers for the solar array modules.

The Combiner is designed to survive outdoor environments. Its rainproof, UL type 3R powder coated aluminium chassis can be mounted on a wall, sloped roof or pole.

The unique angled negative terminal bus bar design makes wiring fast and easy without the larger output conductors blocking access to the smaller input terminals. Dual output lug terminals are included for up to 2/0 AWG conductors.
